#2 Living with a disability

This podcast is part of the ‘Are we in the Age of Anxiety’ Series of talks which explores how we identify with anxiety in today’s day and age and the practical ways we can help ourselves and each other manage anxiety when it rears its head to stop you in your tracks.

This is the story of Narelle Whitham in her own words. She is diagnosed with ADHD, Asperger Syndrome, is dyslexic and to top it off Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (CPOD). But she doesn’t let this define her. Narelle is a talented artist who draws inspiration from her various diagnoses and is working to break down the stigma and encourage acceptance in rural communities of people with disabilities.  In this talk she explores what it has been like for her to grow up in regional Australia in an era where diagnosis was not very common and how it feels to suffer from social anxiety. Note: When you hear her refer to “Abbey” she is her assistance dog who was with Narelle for this presentation.
